About Medina Azahara

Medina Azahara is one of the most important archaeological sites of medieval Spain. Commissioned in the 10th century by Caliph Abd al-Rahman III, it was conceived as the political and administrative seat of the Caliphate of Córdoba, as well as a demonstration of its power and splendor. Although its period of greatness was relatively brief, its remains still preserve the magnificence of one of the most sophisticated palace cities in the Western world. In 2018, it was recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site for its outstanding historical and cultural value.

What to See During the Visit

This night tour allows you to discover Medina Azahara in a unique and evocative atmosphere. Accompanied by a specialized guide, you will explore the main preserved areas of the archaeological site while carefully designed lighting highlights the beauty of its structures. You will walk through ancient streets, ceremonial halls, administrative buildings, and residential quarters that once formed part of this magnificent caliphal city. The nighttime setting adds a different dimension to the experience, allowing visitors to imagine the splendor this site achieved more than a thousand years ago.
